What this planet teaches

What Is a Loan?

A loan is money you borrow with a promise to pay it back, usually with interest.

Why interest exists: If someone lends you $100, they can't use that $100 themselves. Interest is the price of borrowing — it compensates the lender for:

  • Not being able to use their money while you have it
  • The risk that you might not pay them back
  • Inflation (money loses value over time)

  • Types of loans you'll encounter:

  • Student loans — for college (usually lower interest)
  • Car loans — for vehicles (medium interest)
  • Mortgages — for houses (lower interest, longer term)
  • Credit cards — for everyday purchases (HIGH interest — 20%+!)

  • The golden rule of borrowing: Only borrow for things that will be worth more than the interest you pay. A college education? Probably worth it. A pair of shoes on a credit card? Probably not.

    How a planet works

Go through a short lesson with the KidCash mascot, three or four cards with a question to tap and reveal on each set. Last comes a three-question checkpoint: answer two correctly to clear the planet and earn the Loan Expert badge. Lesson progress stays in this browser; when a kid signs in, planet badges and any Family-plan badge rewards save to their KidCash profile.

Land on Twin-Pod Embassy to try the lesson cards and checkpoint. This planet’s mini game is arriving soon.
