What this planet teaches

What Is Saving?

Saving means keeping some of your money instead of spending it all. It sounds simple, but it's one of the most powerful things you can do with money.

Why save?

  • To buy something expensive you really want (a bike, a game console, a phone)
  • To have money for emergencies (your skateboard breaks, you need new shoes)
  • To watch your money grow with interest

  • The 50/30/20 idea: Many adults use a simple rule — 50% for needs, 30% for wants, 20% for savings. As a kid, you might try 70/30 — spend 70%, save 30%.

Real talk: Every dollar you save today is a dollar that can earn interest and grow. A dollar you spend is gone forever. That doesn't mean never spend — it means be intentional about it.

    Setting a Goal

A savings goal turns "I should save" into "I'm saving $75 for new headphones by June."

How to set a good goal:

    1. Pick something specific — not "save more" but "save $50 for a game"

    2. Set a deadline — "by my birthday" or "in 3 months"

    3. Do the math — if you need $50 in 10 weeks, that's $5/week

    4. Track it — KidCash shows your progress bar filling up

Pro tip: Having multiple goals is fine. Add everything to your wishlist and prioritize. Maybe the $15 book comes first, then you tackle the $75 headphones.

The psychology: Research shows that people who write down specific goals are 42% more likely to achieve them. Your KidCash wishlist is that written goal.

    How a planet works

Go through a short lesson with the KidCash mascot, three or four cards with a question to tap and reveal on each set. Last comes a three-question checkpoint: answer two correctly to clear the planet and earn the Savings Starter badge. Lesson progress stays in this browser; when a kid signs in, planet badges and any Family-plan badge rewards save to their KidCash profile.

Land on Piggy Orbital to try the lesson cards and checkpoint. This planet’s mini game is arriving soon.
